This dress is one of my most favorite things I've made...ever. I didn't really start out with the finished product in mind, but I love how it turned out! I had a few yards of black ruffle fabric I wanted to use, and I knew I needed to put it with a bright color to tone down the black a little. The dress was cute as is, but I wanted to add something special...thus the creation of the faux necklace. It is attached to the dress at the shoulders with buttons, and has an added felt flower. The finished product is this sweet ruffly Valentine dress. I'm so proud of this dress!
- Repurposed a stained pink shirt by cutting off the portion with the stain and attaching the ruffle fabric to create a dress
- Skirt is cut in a full circle for maximum twirlability! I also love how the full circle makes the ruffles hang differently on the sides
- Detachable wooden bead/sweater necklace - repurposed an old sweater into this necklace by cutting into 1 inch strips, sewing into a tube, inserting small wooden beads and tying each one off individually to create the necklace. Attached at the shoulders with buttons.
- Sweet felt flower attached to the necklace
P.S. - A tutorial is in the works for the faux necklace. Silly me didn't take pics the first time around, but it's too cute and easy not to recreate and share. What little girl doesn't love a necklace? And, what mom doesn't really love a necklace that stays put and doesn't go on and off 100 times during the day!? Stay tuned!
Love this dress, and my sweet girl does too!
